Here is where you'll find a list of useful resources.
General:
I have had a lot of questions about selective mutism, the conditon Seung-Hui Cho suffered from. I recommend the Selective Mutism Anxiety Research and Treatment Center for those looking for more information about this disorder. Please note that, as I discuss in No Right to Remain Silent, those suffering from selective mutism are not more prone to violence than non-sufferers.
Jeff Herman's Guide to Book Publishers, Editors, and Literary Agents, 2010
Note: 2010 Edition to be released in October 2009.
I also recommend Writers Market for those looking to publish short or long fiction and nonfiction.
Poet's Market is a good resource for those looking to publish poems.
A chapter in my new book, No Right to Remain Silent, is devoted to writers and writing. It is likely that writers and writing teachers will continue to be on the frontline when it comes to troubled students. (See chp. 8 "Teachers and Students.") But the profession is not ready for this.
For Parents & Students:
A chapter in my new book, No Right to Remain Silent, is devoted to parents and students. (See chp. 13 "Parents and Children.") I also have an essay in the 2010 Newsweek/Kaplan College Guide in which I look at the issue of troubled students and include approaches that can be useful when communicating with your sons and daughters.
